Chris Tomlin announced via Twitter that he and his wife, Lauren, welcomed a daughter into the world September 22, 2011. Ashlyn Alexandra Tomlin is the first child for the songwriter. They chose the name Ashlyn because it means dream, and the couple’s prayer is that she will have great dreams for her generation.
Ashlyn’s dad is currently headlining the And If Our God Is For Us… tour with Louie Giglio and Christy Nockels. The tour ramps back up October 19 in Colorado Springs, Colo. and already boasts several sold-out dates. In addition, Tomlin is set to release his first greatest hits project, How Great Is Our God…The Essential Collection (sixstepsrecords), November 15. The album includes a collection of songs spanning the past decade of his storied career. Plus, the project also features a brand-new recording of Tomlin’s career-defining song, “How Great Is Our God.”
